Raipur: Three fighters
from paramilitary forces were killed and 14 others were harmed in an encounter
with Maoists along the line of Sukma and Bijapur regions in Chhattisgarh on
Tuesday, a senior cop said.
Police said that the specific number of harmed staff is yet to be
discovered and salvage activities were going on.
The Bastar police in a proclamation said that the incident occurred
close to Tekalgudem village when a joint group of safety staff was out on a
hunt activity.
"On Monday, another camp of safety staff was set up in
Tekalgudem, a Maoist fortification. In the wake of setting up the camp, the
staff having a place with Special Task Force, District Reserve Guard and
Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA-a jungle warfare unit of CRPF)
was completing hunt in neighboring Jonaguda-Aliguda villages when Maoists
opened fire and encounter began," said Inspector General of Police,
Sunderaj P.
The harmed jawans were being cleared out of the forest, he added.
Anti-Maoist tasks in Chhattisgarh have expanded since November 2023,
and it were the most elevated in November and December last year, as per state
police information.
Police information got to by HT shows that there were just four
anti-Maoist tasks in July and August, which dropped to two in September and
October. Be that as it may, the number expanded to 12 in November, and nine tasks
were led in December 2023.
As per the authorities mindful of the matter, the largest number of
Maoists captured in a month in 2023 was in December when 59 ultras were
captured by the security force and preceding this, it was in July when 15
revolutionaries were captured. Altogether, 173 Maoists were captured among July
and December 2023, while 12 were killed in gunfights with the security forces.
