Rahul Gandhi's Post After Clamor Over Education Panel UGC's Draft Rules

The Centre and University Grants Commission, which supervises educational institutions, have previously explained that there is no de-reservation plan

New Delhi: Congress pioneer Rahul Gandhi has claimed a trick by RSS-BJP to get rid of caste-based reservation in advanced education and said the Congress "won't ever allow this to occur". The Centre and University Grants Commission (UGC), which directs educational institutions, have previously explained that there is no such arrangement after draft rules gave by the education panel ignited a column.

In a post on X, the Congress leader expressed 3,000 out of 7,000 held posts in 45 central universities are empty. "The RSS-BJP have previously spoken about checking on reservation, They currently need to grab the positions of these (backward) sections in advanced education institutions," he claimed.

The move, the Congress MP, claimed is an endeavor to kill the dreams of those battling for civil rights. "This is BJP's personality and the distinction between symbolic justice and real justice. The Congress won't ever allow this to occur. We will keep on battling for civil rights and will guarantee that qualified applicants top off these empty positions," Mr Gandhi added.

As indicated by the draft rules, a "reserved vacancy might be pronounced open by following the method of de-reservation where later, it tends to be filled as an open opportunity".

"There is a general prohibition on de-reservation of reserved vacancies in case of direct recruitment. Nonetheless, in uncommon and remarkable situations when a vacancy in a Group A service can't be permitted to stay empty in public interest, the University concerned may set up a proposition for de-reservation of the vacancy giving the accompanying data: 'The proposition will be expected to list - endeavors made to top off the post; justifications for why it can't be permitted to stay empty and legitimization for de-reservation," the draft rules expressed, specifying the process for topping off such a post.

The draft rules ignited an immense column, drawing solid analysis from the Opposition Congress. Prior, Congress pioneer Jairam Ramesh had blamed the BJP for a conspiracy to end reservation.

In the midst of the clamor, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan guaranteed that "not a single reserved post will be de-reserved". "There is no scope for ambiguity after the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teacher's Cadre)) Act, 2019," he told news agency PTI.
