In Bhubaneswar, law enforcement authorities have confiscated a substantial quantity of explosive materials from a fireworks production facility situated in the Khurda district of Odisha.
According to reports, acting on credible intelligence, a team from the
Jatni police station in the district launched a raid on a fireworks
manufacturing facility on Friday. During the operation, approximately 40 kg of
explosive materials were discovered and confiscated.
Umakant Satpathy, the owner of the establishment, was arrested as he
failed to provide valid documentation for the possession of the explosives.
Sources indicate that the police have intensified their efforts to
combat antisocial activities ahead of the upcoming dual elections in the state,
leading to a series of raids.
Investigations revealed that the facility was involved in the production
of crude bombs, which were then supplied to criminals in various locations
including Pipli, Delang, Khurda, and Brahmagiri. The police have identified
several individuals involved in criminal activities during their probe.
Earlier, a group of miscreants was apprehended in the area, and based on
their disclosures during interrogation, the raid on the fireworks unit was
carried out, as per the sources.
