Five thieves were apprehended, and a substantial arsenal of weapons and ammunition, including five bombs, was seized from their possession.

According to sources, a group of armed robbers, equipped with explosives, was preparing to carry out a robbery targeting a prominent jewelry establishment in Khordha town, situated in a secluded area near the Benapanjari water tank late Wednesday night.

Acting on a tip-off from local residents, Jatani police, disguised discreetly, managed to apprehend the gang.

Upon interrogation, it was disclosed that the suspects were wanted in multiple cases involving bombings, robberies, and thefts pending against them across various regions of the state, including Bhubaneswar.

Addressing the press, DCP Prateek Singh stated that the Jatani Police successfully dismantled the notorious gang known for its involvement in jewelry heists and robberies targeting ATM cash transportation vehicles.

A thorough investigation is currently underway to uncover the gang's potential involvement in other criminal activities across different parts of the state, added the DCP.
