Bhubaneswar Police Arrest Fake Doctor Claiming to Cure HIV and Cancer

Ajay Kumar Kandi, a self-styled HIV, cancer, and skin specialist, was apprehended in Bhubaneswar's Laxmisagar for duping people, primarily women looking for fairer skin. The Laxmisagar Police confiscated cash and a vehicle from him following a complaint that resulted in his arrest.

In a shocking case from Bhubaneswar’s Laxmisagar, a man posing as an HIV, cancer, and skin specialist has been arrested for allegedly deceiving numerous people and swindling large sums of money. Despite lacking the necessary qualifications, this individual claimed to have expertise in treating HIV and cancer, drawing in unsuspecting patients with false promises.

The primary suspect, identified as Ajit Kumar Kandi, was involved with Asclepius Wellness Private Limited, a company that marketed herbal products under the guise of providing miraculous cures for severe illnesses like HIV and cancer. Additionally, they claimed to offer solutions for achieving fairer skin, a service that attracted a large number of women seeking a glowing complexion. Unfortunately, many of these women fell victim to the scam, losing significant amounts of money in the process.

Alongside Kandi, two of his associates, who falsely claimed to be skin specialists, were also arrested. These individuals played a key role in convincing people of the supposed effectiveness of their herbal products, further entrenching the fraudulent operation. The products they sold were marketed as cures for HIV and cancer and as treatments for achieving fair skin, appealing particularly to women who were desperate to improve their appearance.

The operation came to light after a woman lodged a formal complaint with the Laxmisagar police. She had approached Kandi seeking to enhance her skin's fairness and was prescribed various medications and creams. However, instead of the promised improvement, her condition deteriorated significantly, with new scars appearing on her face and body. This alarming outcome prompted her to take action, leading to the investigation and subsequent arrest of the fake specialists.

Authorities have since seized some cash and a vehicle from Kandi, adding to the evidence against him and his accomplices. The scale of the operation and the number of people affected are still being assessed as the investigation continues.

This case highlights the dangers of unregulated and fraudulent medical practices, where individuals without proper credentials exploit vulnerable people by offering false hope. It underscores the importance of verifying the qualifications of medical practitioners before seeking treatment, especially for serious health conditions like HIV and cancer.

Victims of such scams not only suffer financially but also face significant emotional and physical harm. The allure of quick fixes and miracle cures often leads people to trust unverified claims, putting their health at risk. The incident in Laxmisagar serves as a cautionary tale for those seeking medical treatment, reminding them to approach such claims with skepticism and to consult with certified professionals.

As the investigation unfolds, more details about the operations of Asclepius Wellness Private Limited are expected to emerge. The authorities are urging others who may have been duped by this scheme to come forward and report their experiences. This will not only help bring justice to the victims but also serve as a warning to other fraudulent practitioners who prey on the vulnerable.

In the meantime, the arrested individuals face serious charges, and their arrest is a significant step in curbing the activities of fake doctors who endanger public health with their deceitful practices. This case also emphasizes the need for stricter regulations and oversight in the wellness industry to protect consumers from such scams in the future.
