IIT Bhubaneswar Professors Ranked in Top 2% of Global Scientists

 

In a significant milestone for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, six of its faculty members have been recognized among the top 2 percent of scientists worldwide. This accolade comes from a prestigious global ranking released by Stanford University in collaboration with the Dutch academic publishing company, Elsevier. This recognition not only highlights the remarkable contributions of IIT Bhubaneswar's faculty to the global research community but also enhances the institute's reputation for excellence in scientific research and innovation.

The six faculty members honored in the 2024 global ranking include Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray from the School of Electrical and Computer Sciences, Rajan Jha from the School of Basic Sciences, P. Dinakar from the School of Infrastructure, Manas Mohan Mahapatra from the School of Mechanical Sciences, Pattabhi Ramaiah Budarapu also from the School of Mechanical Sciences, and Barathram Ramkumar from the School of Electrical and Computer Sciences. Their recognition underscores the diverse range of expertise within IIT Bhubaneswar, spanning from electrical engineering and basic sciences to infrastructure and mechanical sciences.

Institute sources revealed that these faculty members were recognized for their innovative research and influential publications, which have made a substantial impact in their respective fields. In addition to this recognition, four of the six faculty members—Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray, Rajan Jha, P. Dinakar, and VR Pedireddi—have also been acknowledged for their career-long contributions, further solidifying their standing in the academic world.

Shreepad Karmalkar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, expressed his pride in the faculty's achievements, emphasizing that this honor reflects the high standard of research taking place at the institution.
