Yoga Inside Mosquito Nets: Bhubaneswar Residents Launch Unique Dengue Awareness Initiative

Bhubaneswar residents have introduced a one-of-a-kind 'yoga inside mosquito net' programme to spread dengue prevention awareness. Led by Ashok Baral at Madhusudan Park, Unit-VIII, the daily event takes place from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., focusing on encouraging the use of mosquito nets alongside the health benefits of yoga.

In an innovative attempt to raise awareness about the increasing cases of dengue, Bhubaneswar residents launched a creative campaign called ‘yoga inside mosquito net.’ The concept highlights the dual benefits of using mosquito nets to prevent dengue and practicing yoga for everyday fitness.

The event, which took place at Madhusudan Park in Bhubaneswar’s Unit-VIII on Sunday, saw participants performing yoga within a large mosquito net. This initiative is ongoing, with yoga sessions held daily from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Ashok Baral, the individual behind this idea, shared his personal experience with dengue last year and mentioned that two of his friends are currently suffering from the disease. "Last year, dengue affected around 4,000 people, and this year, hundreds have already been impacted," Baral said.

He added that the goal of the program is to promote both the use of mosquito nets and the importance of yoga. Another participant noted that while sprays, coils, or repellents may not always prevent dengue, using mosquito nets while sleeping, along with incorporating yoga into daily life, offers a simple and effective approach to stay healthy.
