Twin City Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh revealed that three individuals were involved in the crime. Singh stated that two suspects entered the house, while the third remained outside to assist.

Three individuals were arrested by the Commissionerate Police on Wednesday in connection with a harrowing incident in Bhubaneswar's Maitri Vihar area, where a woman was allegedly robbed and gang-raped in her own apartment.

At the time of the crime, the woman was at home with her young daughter. Reports indicate that the burglars forced their way into the residence and committed the assault.

Twin City Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh confirmed that three individuals were directly involved in the crime. According to Singh, the perpetrators had stolen a mobile phone from the victim's home the day prior. During the theft, they noticed that the balcony door was frequently left open, which led them to hatch a plan for the more serious offense. Armed with this information, the burglars entered the apartment, held the woman at knife-point, and carried out the gang rape. Singh also noted that apprehending the suspects was challenging, but all were eventually caught as they resided near the crime scene.

The main accused in the case were identified as Bikash Nayak and Jaga Singh, both with prior criminal records. The third accused, Tukuna Nayak, who worked as an auto-rickshaw driver, was also taken into custody. Investigators recovered mobile phones and a knife from the suspects' possession. Bikash and Jaga had previously been jailed for various offenses but resumed their criminal activities after securing bail.

The brutal attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday night into Monday morning, around 2 a.m. The burglars reportedly stole gold earrings and a mobile phone from the woman's home. After confirming there were no male members present, they threatened her at knife-point, raped her in front of her daughter, and warned that her daughter would be killed if she reported the incident.

Following the victim's FIR, Maitri Vihar Police initially detained two suspects for questioning before the full investigation led to the arrests.
