Six Vadodara schoolkids out on picnic dead, a few absent as boat inverts

A boat conveying school understudies overturned in Harni Lake in Vadodara. With 27 individuals, the boat was stacked a lot of past its ability when the disaster occurred.

No less than six younger students dead on Thursday as the boat they were on overturned in the Harni Lake on the edges of Vadodara in Gujarat. The boat was conveying 27 understudies joined by their teachers who came to the edges for a picnic.

A search operation has been sent off to follow the missing understudies and 10 were saved. Gujarat education minister Kuber Dindor said the NDRF and the fire detachment faculty have been conveyed for the search operation.

"A boat conveying school understudies, who came here on an picnic, toppled in Harni lake in the early evening. The fire unit has up until this point protected seven understudies, while search is on for the missing ones," Vadodara's chief fire officer Parth Brahmbhatt said.

A few local people safeguarded a few kids before the fire unit staff arrived at the spot.

Vadodara MP Ranjanben Dhananjay Bhatt said strict action  will be made against whoever is answerable for the accident. The protected understudies have been taken to various emergency clinics, the MP said. The boat was loaded beyond its its ability.

CM Bhupendra Patel communicated sympathies to the families of the kids who lost their lives. "The incident of youngsters suffocating after the boat upset in Vadodara's Harni lake is very shocking. I pray to God for the peace of the souls of the innocent youngsters who lost their lives. My most profound sympathies to their families in this hour of distress. May the Merciful God give them the solidarity to bear this distress. The rescue operation of the understudies and teachers on board the boat is at present going on. The system has been told to give quick alleviation and treatment to the survivors of the mishap," the chief minister posted on X.

"The news of the death of many students, including teachers, because of the boat overturning in Vadodara, Gujarat is very awful. Numerous understudies are as yet revealed missing in this accident. The Gujarat government and administration are mentioned to assist the alleviation and salvage activities and put forth every conceivable attempt to save the existences of the understudies. In this hour of misery, we stand with the dispossessed families and express our most profound sympathies," Kharge said.
