"Alleging Chirag Paswan of 'ticket selling for financial gain,' the leaders who resigned in unison also pledged their support for the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc."
In a significant blow to Bihar's National Democratic Alliance (NDA), a
group of 22 leaders from Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas)
tendered their resignations following the denial of tickets for the forthcoming
Lok Sabha elections. One leader went as far as accusing Paswan of trading
tickets for monetary gain. These leaders, acting collectively, announced their
allegiance to the opposition Mahagathbandhan in the state, which forms part of
the broader I.N.D.I.A bloc.
Former MP Renu Kushwaha, among those stepping down from Paswan's
leadership, emphasized the importance of prioritizing party workers over
external candidates in ticket distribution. Expressing dismay, Kushwaha
highlighted the perception of being treated as mere laborers rather than valued
contributors to the party's success.
Satish Kumar, formerly the national general secretary of LJP, echoed
sentiments of betrayal among party workers. He stressed the need to support the
INDI alliance to safeguard the nation's interests.
Additionally, Ravindra Singh, who served as LJP's secretary of
organization, accused Paswan of unscrupulously trading tickets, betraying the
trust of the electorate. Singh suggested that the public would hold Paswan
accountable for his actions.
According to the NDA's seat-sharing arrangement, LJP was slated to
contest five out of Bihar's 40 parliamentary constituencies. Chirag Paswan
himself would run from Hajipur, with Arun Bharti, Rajesh Verma, Shambhavi
Choudhary, and Veena Devi contesting from Jamui, Khagaria, Samastipur, and
Vaishali, respectively.
