As per Tihar jail sources, his weight upon arrival on Monday was recorded at 55 kg. They assert that his weight has remained constant since then.
In New Delhi, it was reported by
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and minister Atishi that Delhi Chief Minister
Arvind Kejriwal has experienced a weight loss of 4.5 kg since his arrest on
March 21. However, authorities in Tihar jail have contradicted this claim, asserting
that his weight has remained stable since he was incarcerated two days ago.
In a recent statement on X, Atishi highlighted Kejriwal's severe
diabetic condition, emphasizing his relentless dedication to serving the nation
despite his health challenges. She expressed deep concern over his weight loss,
accusing the BJP of endangering his health and warning of dire consequences if
any harm befalls him.
After being apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate regarding a money
laundering case associated with the previously annulled liquor policy, Kejriwal
was moved to Tihar jail on Monday, where he is presently confined to a 14X8
feet cell in jail number 2.
According to Tihar jail authorities, Kejriwal was examined by two
doctors upon his arrival, and his vital signs were reported as normal. His
weight has reportedly remained consistent at 65 kg since his admission.
However, there have been fluctuations in his blood sugar levels, which dropped
below 50 at one point. He has been provided with medication and a sugar sensor
for monitoring, along with toffees to counter sudden drops.
Kejriwal is being served home-cooked meals for lunch and dinner, and his
health is under close observation. Additionally, a quick response team has been
stationed near his cell for emergencies. He recently communicated with his wife
Sunita via video conference and met with his lawyer in person.
The Delhi court remanded Kejriwal in judicial custody after concerns
were raised by the Enforcement Directorate about potential interference with their
investigation if he were released. The agency has alleged non-cooperation from
Kejriwal in the probe.
Kejriwal's plea for interim relief is scheduled for hearing today.
