AIIMS Bhubaneswar marked a significant milestone with the launch of its "Low Vision Clinic" within the Ophthalmology Department, heralding positive prospects for visually impaired individuals. Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, the Executive Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, led the inauguration ceremony alongside Dr. Praveen Vasisth from Dr. R.P.Centre, AIIMS Delhi, Medical Superintendent Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, and DEAN Dr. Prashant Raghab Mohapatra.

The clinic aims to cater to patients grappling with low vision resulting from various conditions such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetes, and retinal diseases. Through the provision of low vision aids, these patients are empowered to carry out daily tasks independently, marking a pivotal step towards enhancing their quality of life. Notably, this initiative stands as a pioneering effort within government institutes in Odisha.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar collaborated with Dr. R.P.Centre, AIIMS Delhi, and Cristoffel Blinden Mission (CBM), Germany, to establish this groundbreaking clinic. Operating on a daily basis, the clinic is committed to delivering visual rehabilitation services, thereby catalyzing transformative change and fostering self-sufficiency among its beneficiaries.

Dr. Biswas commended the proactive endeavors of the Ophthalmology department and underscored the clinic's profound impact on patient well-being. He stressed the significance of regular patient follow-up and extended gratitude to AIIMS Delhi for their invaluable support through the "ROSHINI" project, which has played a pivotal role in realizing this initiative.
