Mosley, 67, had been missing since Wednesday after embarking on a solo walk along a coastal path in extreme heat.
Athens:
British TV presenter and advocate for healthy living, Michael Mosley, was found
deceased on the Greek island of Symi, the island's deputy mayor informed
Reuters on Sunday.
Mosley, 67,
had been missing since Wednesday after setting off for a walk alone along a
coastal path in intense heat.
Earlier,
police spokeswoman Constantina Dimoglidou stated that a body, believed to be
Mosley's, had been discovered in the Agia Marina area, though official
identification was still pending.
"The
mayor of the island and a state TV ERT journalist were filming in the Agia
Marina area when they discovered the body," deputy mayor Nikitas Grillis
reported. "There is no doubt it is him."
Another
police official clarified that the body was found on rocky terrain near the
sea, contradicting earlier reports suggesting it was located in a cave. The
police are continuing their investigation of the scene.
Mosley, who
was visiting the island with his wife, was last seen alive at 1:30 p.m. (1030
GMT) on Wednesday.
He went
missing after embarking on a walk along a rocky coastal path from Agios
Nikolaos beach to the village of Pedi, prompting a search operation.
